Participation
Why participate?
Do you want to particpate in medical research or drug research? Medical science needs volunteers (both the patients as well as the healthy persons). The techniques and medicines used by people came about as a result of the participation of volunteers in (clinical) trials. Without these people there would be no good medicines available these days and no solid knowledge would have been developed! For researchers it is difficult to find enough volunteers nowadays. Therfore you are able to register yourself at this website so that reseachers are able to find volunteers on one central platform.
When can you participate?
You can participate in a:
Phase I trial if:
- you are bodily and mentally healthy
- you are not using medicine, or you are using medicine, but are able to quite easily without problems
- you don't have (or in the passed) an alcohol or drug addiction
- you don't have an allergy against medicine
Besides that, there are trial specific requirements. For example:
- gender
- age
- length
- weight proportion
- smoke behaviour
Phase II trial if you have the specific affection for what the medicine will be developed. The use of medicine in a Phase II trial is mostly tolerated. The remains are under the same requirements as a Phase I (Click here for more information about clinical trials).
What are the benefits?
Participation in a trial offers some benefits. Clinical trials are carefully accomplished and are the best way to: - play an active role in your health care
- get access to new treatments before they are widely available
- get the best medical care at the most prominent medical organizations during the trial
- help others, because you participate in medical research.
